Earlier this week, Patrick Lennon of The Daily Star had a chance to talk with Hulk Hogan about iMPACT Wrestling’s current tour of the United Kingdom. During the interview, Hogan suggested that tomorrow night’s taping of TNA iMPACT Wrestling at the Wembley Arena in London, England is the most important night in the history of the young promotion. During the interview, Hogan also talked about why he thought Bobby Roode should lose to Kurt Angle at Bound for Glory. You can read the full interview by clicking here or scroll down to read the highlights. Enjoy!

On Taping iMPACT Wrestling in London:
It’s more important than anything else they’ve ever done. We are primed. It’s all about the execution now.

On Bobby Roode Losing to Kurt Angle at Bound for Glory:
That’s true. It was my opinion, and it was a simple gut feeling to do what was best for the company. I was sitting watching Roode’s parents saying what a great son he is and his wife saying what a great husband he is and his kids saying what a great dad he is. He’s the ultimate good guy. He’s going to win the belt! But then what? Who does he wrestle? So I sat back and thought: ‘You guys have just done one of the best old school wrestling angles I’ve ever seen.’ If you turn him heel you give him that edge, give him that extra spice – then he’ll have everyone to work with, rather than throw him out there and set him up for failure. It was just me trying to take a step back, throwing in my two cents. They didn’t have to do it – I didn’t make anyone do anything. It just makes sense.

On the Dirt Sheet/Smark-Fueled Negativity Towards His Legacy:
Even though I’m not wrestling, some people still perceive that as a threat. ‘Hogan didn’t give Roode the belt, he’s a no-good SOB, he never let anybody win, he did it all for himself.’ You get to a point where you go: ‘Thank God they’re thinking that way’!

Hogan was right all along about not giving Roode the belt at BFG. It would have taken him longer to get to the point he is at now. The whole execution of his heel turn was that he would do ANYTHING to get that belt. It wouldn’t have been as interesting if he won it at BFG, and then turned on Storm for a heel turn a few months later. It would have been longer, it would have dragged out, and more importantly, it wouldn’t have got him nearly as much heat.

That was what most of the smarks around the internet were proposing, anyways. But because this way has paid off afterall, everyone has gone all quiet, whispering through the internet comments boards “Yeah, Roode is a great heel” ignoring the fact that they would not be saying this if the execution went the way the smarks wanted it… – Predictable, and meaningless.
