Total Nonstop Action Wrestling will start its first Dubuque fight Saturday, Oct. 16, at Five Flags Arena.

The Orlando-based wrestling company will make its debut appearance in the tri-states with the show. The upstart company, founded in 2002 by wrestler Jeff Jarrett, is a competitor to World Wrestling Entertainment, the industry’s No. 1 company.

TNA’s show could help the company make inroads in the tri-state market. WWE has performed in Dubuque three times since 2006.

TNA, which is fronted in part by wrestling icon Hulk Hogan, has not yet announced the Dubuque show on its online travel schedule, ticket information or a list of wrestlers scheduled to appear on the card.

Five Flags Center is advertising the show on its billboard and website.

The TNA world heavyweight championship is currently vacant. In a story line, former champion Rob Van Dam was forced to relinquish the belt on Aug. 10 due to injuries inflicted by rival Abyss.
