TNA wrestler Matt Morgan appeared on the “Busted Open” radio show on Sirius this afternoon covering TNA subjects including the new TNA regime under Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff, TNA needing to go after a younger demographic, and fighting for TV time on a stacked roster.

Morgan praised Eric Bischoff for helping him develop on the mic by being more conversational in promos rather than too over-the-top. Morgan said the new management team has been helpful developing his character, especially the aspect of him playing both of the TNA tag champions.

When asked about TNA trying to appeal to an older demographic compared to WWE’s PG-TV programming, Morgan said he believes TNA should be going after kids and families in addition to adults.

Morgan said TNA doesn’t need to be “cartoony” or “patronize the fans,” but he said they need to cater to the younger fans who haven’t moved on from pro wrestling.

“People my age – I don’t think they’re watching wrestling anymore. They’re watching MMA,” Morgan said.

Morgan cited the Samoa Joe vs. Kurt Angle MMA-style match from Lockdown 2008 as an example of TNA being able to appeal to the older demographic that watches MMA if the promotion went that direction to appeal to adults.

The radio show hosts played a clip of TNA wrestler Homicide’s appearance on their radio show last week where Homicide joked that he doesn’t know who runs the show in TNA.

Morgan responded by saying everyone on the roster should be approaching as many people in management looking for perspectives on how to get over and what he or she needs to be doing to get more TV time.

Morgan said he wasn’t on the Lockdown PPV last month, but he was fine with it because he would rather be spotlighted when he appears on PPV rather than fading into the background with TNA having a loaded roster.

Morgan said he will find a way to be spotlighted by taking whatever TNA gives him and “not only trying to hit a home run, but hitting it out of the galaxy.”
