Major Impact: Karen Angle Goes to Jail
Added on Thursday, September 20th, 2007 at 1:24 pm to Opinion Columns by Joe Vincent

TNAStars.com Presents Major Impact!

Last week’s Impact was PACKED with action and debuts. Let’s see if this week can measure up…

We start with a little backstage segment with Kevin Nash talking to the Angles about Sting (by the way, Karen Angle is amazing in her role – absolutely amazing). Nash brought up his membership in the nWo and how Sting was the man who put the nWo through hell for two years straight. This prompted the Angles to blame each other for last week’s beatdown of Sting. Pretty funny stuff with Karen Angle playing her character to perfection.

Then we transitioned to the Impact! Zone where we had a debut for Judas Messias. Mike Tenay ALMOST sold Messias’ look to perfection. He should have gone on a little more about how the lack of color in Messias’ eyes meant that he had no soul, etc. He almost got it – almost Tenay! Messias destroyed Eric Young and then beat him up a little bit more – typical heel debut stuff. Shark Boy attempted the save, but he got crushed, too.

This prompted Rhino to come out to make the save, which prompted me to wonder what happened with that boorish alcoholic angle between Rhino and “Cowboy” James Storm. Are we taking some lessons from WWE here and just forgetting about a few weeks ago? Hmmm…

Is it just me or does Pacman Jones seem completely unimpressed by everything around him whenever he comes out to the ring? He’s the epitome of the phrase, “lack of enthusiasm.” Oh, does anyone know who sings his entrance music? Sounds like Mike Jones, but it could be Pacman’s own group – I’m not sure.

Before the Killings vs. Styles match started, Tenay hyped the 2-hour Impact coming our way in October. I’ve grown to love these quick, 1-hour shows from TNA, so I’m not sure how I’ll react to twice as much TNA each week. Then again, I’m constantly saying that it’s a shame that more of TNA’s young stars aren’t given more television time. So it could work out well.

The match between Killings and Styles was good. I could watch AJ Styles wrestle a cardboard box and be happy with the end-result! When he does that Pele kick it is just incredible.

In fact, AJ Styles’ match is the major impact moment of the week. That kick is ridiculous!

I really like that Karen Angle incites the crowd so much that they chant “You Suck!” at her. That’s absolutely hilarious and, more importantly, it shows how quickly she’s become a real character in the world of TNA.

TNA put an interesting spin on the traditional “restraining order” storyline by having Karen Angle arrested for breaking a restraining order that he put against her! Interesting. Not believable in the real world, but interesting nonetheless. Karen Angle’s shrieking on the way out of the building was classic material – just classic.

Junior Fatu took on Christian Cage tonight and I’ll tell you what – Fatu is out of shape! Yes he’s a big guy to begin with, but he was a little droppy and winded throughout the match. It was nice to see him in action again, though. Oh and I have to point out that Earl Hebner was the referee during this match so we’re basically watching a WWE match circa 1999 through 2002.

Frankly, the match was a little sloppy and it had a really sloppy ending. Not to worry, though, both AJ Styles and Christian Cage got the ol’ stinkface from Junior Fatu. Tomko attacked, but Samoa Joe made the save.

As the show ended, we saw Judas Messias choking out Sting in the backstage area. Personally, I don’t like this as we’re starting to blend old storylines with new storylines and I’d rather that the Angle/Sting feud and Messias/Abyss feud come to their respective ends first. But, as always, we’ll have to wait and see how this plays out.
