Major Impact: Setting the Stage for No Surrender
Added on Thursday, September 6th, 2007 at 1:26 pm to Opinion Columns by Joe Vincent

TNAStars.com Presents Major Impact!

Considering the short amount of television time that TNA has each week, I would expect less “filler” to start the show. However, we did have a nice opening match between Kaz and Tyson Tomko (the wicked-ass clothesline that Tomko laid on Kaz actually hurt ME). I like seeing this type of competition on a wrestling show.

I’m not sure if I like the Robert Roode/Ms. Brooks storyline where he goes around hooting and hollering about how he owns her and he’ll fire her, etc. It reminds me too much of the Eric Young storyline from last spring, but let’s see how it plays out. Personally, I always liked the idea of a “business woman” as the manager to a major singles star (think Alexandria York).

How great is Karen Angle? She is the aggressive, relevant alternative to so many of the meek female valets out there. In fact, Karen Angle’s quick shriek at Sting in the backstage area is tonight’s major impact moment!

And you’ve gotta like Raven’s persona in TNA – how he sits at the entrance ramp with his top hat and his cane in that weird chair. Awesome! I don’t see why Samoa Joe had the fire dancers introducing him tonight except to have them beaten up later on, but I guess that it helps create future video clips for promos. Great match by Raven and Samoa Joe, by the way, until the Christian Coalition came out and interfered.

Good grief! How many different things can you have happen before the show ends to hype up the pay-per-view? James Mitchell comes out and seemingly takes Abyss away from Sting. Team Pacman “nWo’s” Kurt Angle. And Sting is left in the ring wondering what happened.

TNA did a good job preparing for the No Surrender pay-per-view. The recap before the show ended also helped set the stage for Sunday’s event. Good job!
