Major Impact: It’s Episode #100 for iMPACT!

TNAStars.com Presents Major Impact!

Congratulations to TNA for their 100th Impact on Spike TV!

Last week we had a lackluster Impact coming out of the Hard Justice pay-per-view. Could TNA turn it around this week?

The show certainly didn’t start off too well. Someone please tell Jeremy Borash that he’s not funny and shouldn’t try to be humorous with “witty” one-liners. He sucks at it and it comes off bad on television. Stop it.

Then again, Earl Hebner was the referee for the opening match and I always get a kick out of seeing Hebner. Luckily, Kaz/Gail Kim and Robert Roode/Ms. Brooks put on one hell of a match. Good stuff. It’s a shame you don’t get to see these guys on the show each week since they are really talented and are much better than the dumb non-wrestling segments we had last week. Gail Kim with the pin on Ms. Brooks for the win.

Now let me comment on some more non-wrestling segments. I liked the Christian Coalition bit, though it was a minute or so too long. This was followed by the James Storm segment where he was looking for Rhino. I don’t like the alcoholic storyline that they’re running here, but I did enjoy watching Storm walking up and down the main strip in Nashville mainly because I’ve been to a few of those places on Broadway! That includes the place that he described as the biggest dump in town…ha ha ha!

So after these two non-wrestling segments and a few others (Cornette and Angle backstage followed by a Black Reign vignette), we finally get some more in-ring action. Unfortunately, it was Ron Killings against Eric Young. I’ve got nothing against Young or Killings, but I do have something against investing a ton of my time in the TNA product for the last few months and then all of a sudden having Killings thrown into a major storyline out of nowhere.

Poor planning.

Then we had a completely character-devastating backstage interview with Team 3D and Jeremy Borash. So these guys spent months building up their heel personas and then come out and apologize for it. Pathetic. Absolutely pathetic.

Translation? “TNA fans: thank you for investing your time in our heel characters, but we’re good guys again. So please cheer for us…please?” I don’t care that it was all a sham (if you watched the show to the end, you saw that they attacked The Steiner Brothers) – it was a waste of television time.

What did we learn from tonight’s show, folks? We learned that Karen Angle is an amazing character. We also learned that many of the backstage segments are becoming pointless and poorly produced. Finally, we learned that if there are non-wrestling media following a character – no matter how boring that character – we will get him pushed down our throats.

Tonight’s major impact is simply that so much of the show seemed to be wasted. It’s unfortunate and I hope that episode #101 is better than this one.

Quote of the Night:
“You’re a prick!” – Kaz telling Robert Roode what’s wrong with him

“That face is as phony as a ‘Get Well’ card from an undertaker!” – Jim Cornette describing Karen Angle’s features
